Senior Custodian Steve Welch says bus driver John Morrison asked Graymont for the help, and the firm donated material to repair the road. Town employees helped spread it.
In another school bus matter, Bus 38 was taken out of the line-up because something underneath had broken. Mechanic Jim Warner took it for an estimate and was given a price of $1,996. The board approved the expenditure.
Turning to staff, the Wells Central School Board of Education has created a part-time Cleaner 2 position, effective Sept. 16, with a maximum of 29 hours per week and an hourly rate of $11.54. Jessie Ostrander was appointed to the position, which does not include health insurance.
Debbie Beaudin and Pamela Anderson were added to the list of cafeteria substitutes and Corinne Hayden was added to the list of teacher assistant substitutes.
Assistant Cook Tracy Hill resigned effective Sept. 1, 2013.
The enrollment figure at the beginning of the school year was 143.
The BOE will next meet Wednesday, Oct. 16, starting at 7 p.m. at the school.
