Adirondack Christmas on Main Street is packed with fun activities and sweet deals

INLET -- Adirondack Christmas on Main Street here will be Nov. 29 and 30 and Dec. 1. Avoid the hassle of city crowds by holiday shopping here.

A couple of new activities have been added to favorites like the Candy Cane Hunt, the Holiday Pet Parade and the Tree Lighting.

New - There will be free face painting Saturday from 12:30-1:30 p.m. at Inlet Town Hall during the Holiday Film Festival. The film festival is also where children collect prizes from the Candy Cane Hunt. There will be holiday movies playing on the big screen television, free popcorn and cocoa, and pages to color.

All of this is right next door to the Noah's Ark Animal Workshop, where children can find new friends to stuff and take home. Animals range from $10-$16 with clothing and accessories start at $4.

New - Screamen Eagle will host Pet Pictures Saturday from 3:30-5 p.m. The sitting is free with a donation suggested for the Stevens-Swan Humane Society; prints can be ordered. Santa will make an appearance at 4:15 p.m. and stay until all willing pets get a chance to sit with him.

The authors of the Adirondack Kids series will return. Join the VanRipers at The Adirondack Reader from 12-2 p.m. Saturday. They will answer questions, sign books and have free goodies for children.

Enjoy in-store specials, holiday treats and music at Inlet shops throughout the day.

There will be a drop box set up at Inlet Town Hall for letters to Santa. The office is open each day from 9 a.m. to 6 p.m.

There will be a drop box at Inlet Post Office for donations of unwrapped toys to be distributed to local families.

Basket Raffle (full of items donated by Inlet businesses); bring Inlet receipts dated Nov. 29 through Dec. 1 to the Inlet Information Office and receive one free raffle ticket for every $10 spent. The drawing will be Sunday at 5 p.m. at Inlet Town Hall.
