To the editor:
I just had a great group of kids visit me, representing the 8th grade in Lake Pleasant school. They sang a Christmas carol and then presented me with a very lovely basket of goodies .
To say they brightened my day would be an understatement. I couldn’t help but think how very blessed I am and yes, even the community, to be able to listen and see these young people.
Then there was a flashback to the recent tragedy in Newton the other day. I couldn’t help but “lump up” knowing that so many families there won’t be enjoying a blessing similar to this one that I was now experiencing.
We are so blessed to live here in this wonderful community and I do thank the Lord for it and the wonderful job you people, the teachers and staff, do in our school system.
I want to remind us all that the reason for the season is found in the Bible: Luke 2:11 “Today in the town of David a Savior has been born to you; he is Christ the Lord,” and he gave us the greatest gift imaginable, if we choose to accept it as found in John 3:16 “For God so loved the world that he gave his one and only son that whosoever believes in him shall not perish but have eternal life.”
