Wells names top seniors

Wells Central School has announced its top two graduating students, Ryan Woodward and Samantha Bartholf.

Ryan Woodward, son of David and Jennifer Woodward of Wells, has been named valedictorian of the Wells Central School Class of 2011.

Ryan has been enrolled in the Early Admissions Program at Fulton-Montgomery Community College for the past two years. In addition to completing all the requirements for his high school graduation, Ryan will obtain an associate’s degree with honors from FMCC.

Ryan has played varsity soccer, basketball and baseball at Wells Central School. He is a member of the National Honor Society at WCS and Phi Theta Kappa, the honor society for two-year colleges.

He works as a counselor in the Wells Summer Recreation Program, and along with his family has raised three dogs for Guiding Eyes for the Blind.

Ryan will attend St. Lawrence University in the fall as an Augsbury Scholar in pre-law studies.

Samantha Bartholf, daughter of Jeffery Bartholf and Betty Ann Gibson, has been named salutatorian of the Wells Central School Class of 2011.

Samantha has played all three offered sports at WCS. In addition she has been involved in two theatre productions, playing roles in “And Then There Were None” and “Peter Pan.”

Samantha works as a counselor in the Wells Summer Recreation Program.

She is enrolled at FMCC for the fall semester. Following FMCC, Sam plans to attend State University of New York at Albany to study Spanish, with a goal of teaching Spanish.
