Six high school basketball games were scheduled for the four county teams last week. However, only two were played, as the four games scheduled for Thursday and Friday were postponed due to unsafe travel conditions.

IL/LL 48, WELLS 14

The first game of the week was between the two varsity girls’ teams. The Wells Lady Indians traveled to Indian Lake Tuesday, Jan. 10, to face the Indian Lake/Long Lake Orange. The height of IL/LL along with aggressive team defense limited Wells to five field goals.

Jessica Bain led IL/LL with 15 points and six assists. Shannon Farrell contributed eight points and five steals, while Morgan Hinckley hauled in eight rebounds.

Brittany Woodward and Emily Michienzi paced Wells with four points each.

J’BURG 50, WELLS 45

Wednesday, Jan. 11, the Wells boys’ team faced Johnsburg in North Creek. Wells got off to a solid start, leading 14-6 after the first quarter.

Johnsburg went on to outscore Wells 30-16 in the middle two quarters to head into the final stanza leading by the score of 36-30. Wells rallied in the fourth quarter, taking a 15-14 advantage, but fell short as Johnsburg took the win. Jake Early led The Indians with 17 points.

A game between the IL/LL and Wells boys originally scheduled for Jan. 12 has been rescheduled for Feb. 8. Three games, Wells boys and girls varsities versus Elizabethtown and IL/LL boys versus Lake Placid, postponed Friday, had not been rescheduled as of press time.
