Mid-term exams and poor weather made for a fairly quiet week in area high school basketball last week.

The Indian Lake / Long Lake girls traveled to Old Forge Tuesday for a non-league game.

Later in the week the Wells boys and girls teams faced Johnsburg.

The IL/LL girls and boys were scheduled to play Crown Point Thursday and Friday respectively.

Both games had to be postponed due to poor travel conditions.

IL/LL 33,

OLD FORGE 27

The IL/LL girls, currently ranked 14th in the New York State Sportswriters Association Class D poll, traveled to Old Forge Tuesday, Jan. 24. In the intersectional contest, the host Eskimos held a four-point margin after the first quarter. IL/LL had its best quarter of the game in the second period, outscoring Old Forge by six points. The Orange widened the lead slightly by edging Old Forge by two points in each of the second half quarters.

Meg Smith led IL/LL with 18 points and seven rebounds. Morgan Hinckley contributed three steals and six rebounds.

IL/LL: Farrell 1-0-3, King 0-0-0, M. Hinckley 2-0-4, Bain 1-2-4, Hamden 0-0-0, S. Hinckley 1-0-2, Darling 0-0-0, Smith 9-0-18, Dechene 1-0-2. Totals 15-2-33.

The Lady Indians traveled to Johnsburg Thursday. The game was a tale of two halves. In the first half, Wells held a slight margin with a 25-22 lead. However, in the second half, Wells outscored the host Jaguars 27-5 to walk away with the dominant win.

Karli Tomlinson netted 19 points to lead the Wells offense.

Jake Early’s double-double of 22 points and 10 rebounds led Wells to an easy victory over Johnsburg. The Indians got off to a strong start with a 35-20 first half. Ken Chicoski and Matt Michienzi recorded 14 and 12 points respectively for Wells.

Wells: Early 8-6-22, Michienzi 5-0-12, Chicoski 5-3-14, Brenan 4-0-8, Elmendorf 0-0-0, Weaver 2-1-5. Totals 24-10-61.
