Day-long celebration planned for Little League

NORTHVILLE -The Northville-Edinburg Little League (NELL) will celebrate Opening Day Saturday, June 4 at its newly constructed field in Driscoll Industrial Park, located at 363 County Hwy. 113.

The event will begin at 11 a.m with an exhibition game to be played by the CMK and Associates sponsored Tee-Ball Team, followed by a game between the NELL minors, (sponsored by SeeLow Logging), and Galway at noon.

2 p.m. will mark the start of the game between NELL coach/pitch minors, sponsored by The Inspector, and the Wells coach/pitch minors. The official ceremony will begin at 3:30 p.m. and will include a flag raising, a pledge, introduction of coaches and teams and recognition of sponsors.

The festivities will conclude with a game between the NELL Timeless Tavern Majors and the Wells Rockhounds at 4 p.m.

Though officially chartered three years ago, the NELL lacked a field suitable for Little League play until this spring. The Opening Day ceremony will mark the completion of a year-long project and the culmination of countless hours of hard work and dedication to a dream shared by coaches, players, parents and the Northville-Edinburg community as a whole. It will also serve as an opportunity for league members to recognize and thank its many sponsors.

In addition to league representatives, coaches, players, parents, sponsors and local dignitaries will be in attendance.
