The Wells girls were to play at Indian Lake Wednesday, Dec. 11. However, Long Lake was unable to make the game due to poor travel conditions. The game was rescheduled for Dec. 16. All other games scheduled for last week took place.

IL/LL 59, WELLS 52

The two county high school boys' basketball teams went head to head Tuesday, Dec. 10, when Wells hosted Indian Lake / Long Lake. The game was competitive throughout with Wells leading at the half by four. The Orange went up by four points after outscoring Wells by eight in the third quarter. In the final period, IL/LL maintained the lead, securing a 59-52 win.

Henry Sandiford had the hot hand for IL/LL, netting a team-high 30 points. Curtis Seaman chipped in with 15.

Ben Brenan had an all-around game for Wells with 24 points, 18 rebounds and four blocks. Seth Weaver recorded a double-double with 11 points and 12 rebounds.

SCHROON LAKE 50, WELLS 47

The Schroon Lake and Wells boys' teams played in Wells Thursday, Dec. 12. Wells got off to a good start, holding a three-point lead at the end of the first quarter. Then Schroon Lake outscored the Indians by five in the second stanza to lead by three at halftime. The Wildcats widened the lead in the third quarter to hold a 39-32 edge. Wells rallied with a 15-11 fourth quarter, but couldn't overcome the seven point third quarter deficit and lost the game 50-47.

Ben Brenan put in his second versatile game of the week, recording 18 points, seven rebounds and four blocks. Seth Weaver contributed with 16 points.

MINERVA/NEWCOMB, 48, IL/LL 31

The IL/LL and Minerva/Newcomb boys and girls played each other Friday, Dec. 13. The girls played in Newcomb while the boys played in Indian Lake.

The M/N girls got off to a strong start, holding a 30-10 advantage at halftime as they cruised to a 48-31 win. Shannon Farrell was high scorer for IL/LL with 10 points.

IL/LL 43, MINERVA/NEWCOMB 38

The boys' game was competitive with the teams trading the lead in the first half. A five-point IL/LL first quarter lead was diminished by an 11-5 M/N second period, giving The Mountaineers a one-point lead at halftime. However the Orange scored 13 points in each of the last two quarters, outscoring M/N 26-20 to capture the 43-38 win.

Henry Sandiford and Curtis Seaman led The Orange with 15 and 14 points respectively. Seaman also recorded 11 rebounds.

M/N: Vanderwalker 1-1-3, Helms 3-0-7, Moulton 3-0-7, Colletti 0-2-2, Ruzbacki 6-2-14, Galusha 2-1-5. Totals 15-6-38.

SCHROON LAKE 49, WELLS 22

The week of games ended with the Wells girls traveling to Schroon Lake Friday, Dec. 13. The Lady Indians were held to single-digit scoring in three of the four quarters as Schroon Lake rolled to the 49-22 win. Kaelie Brenan led Wells' scoring with seven points.

Wells: Brown 0-0-0, Brenan 2-2-7, Simons 0-0-0, Kennedy 2-1-5, Darling 2-0-4, Foster 1-4-6. Totals: 7-7-22.

Schroon Lake: Finnerty 9-2-21, Subra 1-0-2, Lanoue 1-0-2, Wisser 4-2-10, Ververka 1-0-2, Gadway 3-0-6, Garland 3-0-6, Rodriquez 0-0-0. Totals: 22-4-49.
