Support was generous

Sunday, July 13, 2014 - Updated: 2:37 PM

To the editor,

The Country Christmas Tour (CCT) Steering Committee would like to thank the Indian Lake community and visitors for their generous support for our annual 50/50 Raffle Fundraiser. The raffle was held during the town parade and fireworks July 5. We are happy to announce the lucky winner of our 50/50 Raffle, Ed Jaehnert.

Our 50/50 Raffle and September Bake Sale are our only fundraisers. Proceeds from them are used to cover expenses and for activities held throughout the town during the Thanksgiving Day holiday weekend.

For example, fundraising proceeds are used to sponsor the free Children's Holiday Workshop and to purchase decorations for the town's annual Christmas tree, pole-top holiday banners and posters and flyers.

One of our annual holiday activities will be a "Story Time with Mrs. Claus" (and hopefully Mr. Claus). This free event will include hot chocolate and cookies.

The CCT Children's Holiday Workshop, another free activity, continues to be very popular. Over 60 children made their holiday gifts during last year's workshop.

We will hold our annual Bake Sale Fundraiser at St. Mary's Church Sept. 20. The Bake Sale will conclude our 2014 annual fundraising activities.

"Made in the Adirondacks" is the theme for the 17th Annual Country Christmas Tour, designed to give visitors an inside view of the handcrafted work of local and regional artisans and crafters. This two-day event is held the weekend after Thanksgiving, Friday, Nov. 28, and Saturday, Nov. 29 this year.

The CCT features self-guided "tours" visiting artisans and crafters who offer a variety of holiday gift items for sale in their homes and at numerous locations throughout the town.
