Help the hardship fund

Tuesday, July 22, 2014 - Updated: 10:36 AM

Dear Editor,

The North Country Hardship Fund Inc. was created in 2009 following a tragic motorcycle accident to Wayne Bukovinsky. The outpouring of support from family, friends, and community inspired Wayne to create an organization whose mission was to offer immediate financial assistance to victims of tragedy in the counties we serve.

Since 2010 the NCHF has awarded over $100,000 to victims of tragedy. This is no easy task. We rely solely on public donations and fund-raising events throughout the year.

Our largest event is Wayne Stock. Each year we offer a day of music, auctions, raffles, friends, and community as well as the raffle of a Harley-Davidson. This year Wayne Stock VII will be held Aug. 2 at the Ski Bowl in North Creek. The event is free.

Our organization currently covers Warren, Washington, Essex, Hamilton, and Saratoga counties. We have organized a committee that meets once a month and have a web page, as well as a Facebook page. From these web sites a person can make out an application or contact us directly. The committee reviews the application and dispenses funds accordingly. All applications are confidential.

As a not-for-profit corporation as described in Section 501 (c) 3 of the Internal Revenue Code, your contribution is tax deductible.

Thank you for your support as we strive to realize our goals and accomplish our mission of helping the communities we serve. This year's theme is "Inspire." We hope we have "inspired" your organization to be part of ours. Our future includes you.

Wayne Bukovinski, president
