Party doesn’t matter

Dear Editor,

Over the last many weeks I have enjoyed meeting and talking to many people on the campaign trail. One of the most asked questions I’m faced with is, ‘What party are you with?’ My answer is always the same, ‘Does it really matter?’

It shouldn’t. I am not running for the party, I am running to represent the people in the district regardless of party. You will not find my party affiliation on any of my handout material or on my webpage. It does not matter to me.

I want to be elected not on what party I am registered with but what I stand for: my principles, my ideas, plans and commitment to represent the people in my district. It is my intent to work with everyone regardless of party affiliation in order to get the people’s business done.

As an example, my campaign team is made up of mostly Republican members even though I am running on the Democratic line. I am not a seasoned politician like my opponent, but a hard working business owner and family man who will give you better representation and a louder voice in Albany.

Vote for the person, not the party. Please feel free to contact me at (315) 866-3474 or visit my webpage at www.ChilelliForAssembly.com to see my platform for change.

Joseph Chilelli

candidate for 118th Assembly District, Ilion

Grateful for support

Dear Editor,

The Speculator Lions Club would like to sincerely thank all of the support you have given us in 2012.

It has been a banner year for us, capped off by the unprecedented success of our breakfast / fly-in held Aug. 25 at Piseco Airport. The Lions and other volunteers served a record-breaking 600 plus meals, and we had 48 planes join the event.

The fly-in, combined with the bike raffle, was a very successful fundraising event for us. All money raised by the Speculator Lions Club is for used for community events. The money raised goes to our local scholarship fund, Thanksgiving baskets, support for the Halloween celebration, local food pantry plus we provide emergency relief in disaster situations.

Our upcoming events include a scholarship buffet fund-raiser (Oct. 19), our annual Halloween party at Lake Pleasant Central School (Oct. 27), another scholarship dinner (date to be determined) and the Poker Run (February of next year). We look forward to your participation and again, thank you for your tremendous support.

A sincere thank you

Dear Editor,

We at Inlet Volunteer Emergency Services wish to express a most sincere thank you to all of the sponsors, participants and volunteers who gave generously to make this year’s Gary Rudd Memorial Golf Tournament Aug. 19 a smashing success.

There are just too many to mention here, but you know who you are, and we could not have brought this special event to fruition without all your benevolence.

A special thank you goes to Smith Marine for its participation in sponsoring our “Holes in One” and to Roger and Margie Lind of Inlet Golf Course for continuing to host our event.
