No apologies

Sunday, December 22, 2013 - Updated: 9:34 PM

Cris,

You may have been made aware of one of our snowmobile groomer's recent troubles, and the difficult spot we found ourselves in when our Bombardier tracked vehicle sunk into a bog at Mossy Vly. This was a terrible predicament, far from our base in deep snow with dusk settling in!

Some people saw the pictures of the once solid trail swallowing our groomer and were quick to criticize being out so early in the season on these back trails. I applaud our two-man grooming crew, our mechanics and crew that rushed to their aid and both our incoming and outgoing highway superintendents for their focused teamwork.

As of Dec. 19 the vehicle and all our equipment is back at our facility for a much needed cleaning and tune-up, and will soon be back in service.

There will be no apologies for aggressively taking on the task of preparing our trails for our season and the valued riders that come to Lake Pleasant for great snowmobiling. I am proud of our crew's response and look forward to a wonderful winter for our residents and visitors alike.

Hope to see you on the trail, and Merry Christmas to all your readers. Join us at noon Jan. 1 at the Village Boat Ramp for our Polar Plunge.

Neil P. McGovern, supervisor

Town of Lake Pleasant
