INDIAN LAKE -- The Indian Lake Planning Committee is searching for ways to let the world know the Town of Indian Lake is a great place to visit, live and work.

When the committee met Wednesday, Dec. 18, discussion began with Ann Carroll suggesting the marketing and communication subgroups should be combined. Brenda Valentine agreed, as did other members of the committee.

It was agreed that marketing is communicating everything the town has to offer to both residents and possible visitors.

At a more local level, Al Pouch suggested that after minutes of the meetings are approved they should not only be posted on the committee's website but also mailed to local groups such as the fish and game club, fire department and school board members.

The committee's website is at indianlake.wordpress.com/

TAX-EXEMPT

In November the planning committee learned the Indian Lake Community Development Corporation, its administrative and steering group, had received tax-exempt status.

This is important because the ILCDC is now a publicly supported charity able to solicit tax-deductible donations and grants to promote and improve the town.

EVENTS

Committee member Sally Stanton reported plans for the first annual SnoCade are moving forward. SnoCade is an event celebrating winter and snowmobiling in the Adirondacks, centered in Indian Lake.

The event is scheduled for President's Week, Feb. 14-23, with both snowmobiling and non-snowmobiling events. SnoCade now has a page on Facebook at www.facebook.com/Snocade

Valentine reported Indian Lake's Adirondack Mountains Antiques Show is now an umbrella group under her Main Street Revitalization group, but still needs volunteers. The 2014 event will be Sept. 17-21.
