The Wells girls picked up their first win of the season last week as they closed out their season. The Wells boys played two games and had one rescheduled due to poor weather. The Indian Lake / Long Lake boys played one game, while the IL/LL girls played two including a Coaches vs. Cancer game.

TICONDEROGA 43, WELLS 24

Monday, Feb. 3, Wells hosted Class C Ticonderoga for boys' and girls' Northern Basketball League games. In the girls' game Ticonderoga jumped out to 6-0 lead in the first quarter before Wells went on an 8-2 run to tie the game. In the third quarter Wells outscored Ticonderoga 8-7. Ticonderoga controlled the fourth quarter to take the game by a score of 48-24.

Kaeli Brenan led Wells with nine points. Chelsea Simons contributed five points, four rebounds and three steals, while Erika Foster had two points, four rebounds, two steals and two assists.

Ticonderoga: Parker 1-0-2, Hughes 6-2-14, Austin 5-1-11, Fuller 3-1-7, Hamel 2-0-4, Jebb 3-2-8, Moore 1-0-2. Totals: 21-6-44.

Wells: Mayer 0-3-3, Simons 2-0-5, Foster 0-2-2, Brenan 2-4-9, Kennedy 1-1-3, Darling 1-0-2. Totals: 6-10-24.

TICONDEROGA 65, WELLS 30

In the boys' game Wells battled an aggressive Ticonderoga defense all game. Ticonderoga converted Wells turnovers into points to take a 44-11 first half lead en route to its 65-30 win.

Ben Brenan led the Indians with 14 points while Ken Chicoski finished with 12 points.

KEENE 58, IL/LL 33

The IL/LL girls traveled to Keene Tuesday, Feb. 4, where the host Beavers jumped out to a 16-5 lead in the first period. IL/LL followed up with competitive second and third quarters before Keene finished with a 17-6 fourth quarter to pick up the 58-33 win. The loss put IL/LL's league record at 9-4. Seniors Shannon Farrell and Jazmin Piraino scored eight points each for IL/LL.

WELLS 37, J'BURG 26

Playing two games in as many days didn't deter the Lady Indians of Wells from putting in a strong performance Tuesday, Feb. 4, when they hosted Johnsburg. Wells held a two-point margin after the first quarter of play before controlling the second quarter for a 19-12 advantage at the half. Johnsburg outscored the Lady Indians 9-6 in the third quarter to trail by four points. Wells controlled the game down the stretch, outscoring the Jaguars 12-5 and picking up its first win of the season by a score of 37-26.

Chelsea Kennedy scored eight points and grabbed 13 rebounds for Wells while Sarah Darling had five points, seven rebounds and six steals. Chelsea Simons added seven points, five rebounds and five steals for the Lady Indians.

Johnsburg: Guy 2-6-11, Persons 1-1-3, Millington 3-0-6, Ordway 2-0-4, DeThomas 1-0-2. Totals 9-7-23.

KEENE 71, IL/LL 62

The IL/LL boys hosted Keene in Long Lake Thursday, Feb. 6. The Orange got off to a great start, outscoring the Beavers 25-4 in the first quarter. Keene bounced back from the early deficit though, outscoring IL/LL in the remaining three quarters to win the game 71-62. Henry Sandiford led IL/LL with 23 points. Curtis Seaman and Rudy Giessen also scored in double figures with 17 and 10 points respectively.

Keene: Brown 9-2-24, Warner 4-3-12, Dumas 5-2-12, Venner 8-2-21, Haverlick 0-0-0, Summo 1-0-2. Totals 27-9-71.

The Wells girls played their third game of the week and final game of the season Thursday, Feb. 6, when they traveled to Olmstedville to face Minerva / Newcomb. The host Mountaineers controlled the game, outscoring the Lady Indians each quarter in the 50-22 win. Wells finished the season with a 1-13 record. Sarah Darling and Erika Foster each recorded eight points for Wells.

Wells: Mayer 0-1-1, Simons 2-0-5, Darling 2-4-8, Foster 4-0-8. Totals 8-5-22.

WELLS 57, M/N 50

The Wells boys improved their record to 5-8 with a win over Minerva / Newcomb Friday, Feb. 7. Three Wells players scored in double figures. Kenny Chicoski led with 16 points followed by Nick Taylor with 12 and Seth Weaver with 11. Ben Brenan recorded nine points and 15 rebounds while Weaver grabbed 10 rebounds.

M/N: Karilli 3-0-6, Vanderwalker 6-1-13, Helms 2-0-4, Colletti 4-5-13, Ruzbacki 5-1-11, Viele 1-1-3. Totals 21-8-50.

IL/LL 37, TUPPER 35

The IL/LL girls sponsored a Coaches vs. Cancer game when they hosted Tupper Lake Friday, Feb. 7. IL/LL got off to a good start, taking a five-point lead in the first eight minutes of play. Tupper Lake outscored The Orange 12-9 in the second quarter to trail by only two at halftime. Both teams scored 19 points in the final two periods as IL/LL held on to secure the 37-35 non-league win. Shannon Farrell led IL/LL with 16 points while Lily Dechene chipped in with 11.

Over $1,500 was raised by the IL/LL girls to help fight cancer.
