Frozen Fire & Lights returns Saturday, Feb. 23

Wednesday, February 13, 2013 - Updated: 8:43 AM

INLET—The Town of Inlet is getting ready for the 11th Annual Frozen Fire & Lights: bonfires, fireworks and family fun Saturday, Feb. 23.

This event began as a way to remind visitors and locals of all the free activities the town offers at Fern Park in the winter.

The pavilion becomes an indoor skating rink with a warming room and heated restrooms and a section at the base of the mountain was cleared many years ago for a daring little sledding hill.

Fern Park is also the trailhead to miles of groomed cross-country ski trails and trails for snowshoeing.

Feb. 23 is also the day of the Third Annual Cardboard Sled Race, starting at 1 p.m. at Fern Park. Go to www.FrozenFireandLights.com for a schedule of the day’s activities and a printable Cardboard Sled Race application.
