Gail Grier

January 27, 2013

Gail Ann Grier, 60, died Sunday, January 27th, 2013 in Delray Beach, Florida.

Gail was born November 23, 1952 the daughter of Patricia and Burt Grier and raised in Higgins Bay, N.Y.

Gail was a graduate of Piseco Elementary and Wells Central Schools. She earned her Associates Degree in Science from Canton University in Canton, N.Y. and worked for Norwich Pharmaceutical in Norwich, N.Y. before      beginning her traveling adventures, which took her to Texas, California, Alaska and Maui, Hawaii.

Gail then relocated to Delray Beach where she worked in Catering and Real Estate. She was a  member of The American Legion Ladies Auxiliary, Post 157, Margate, Fl. Gail loved to fish, looking for ‘tight lines and fair winds’..

Gail last visited Piseco in 2010 renewing old friendships and once more enjoying the beauty of her childhood home.

She was predeceased by her father Edward Burton Grier.

Gail is survived by her mother Pat Grier  and Jack Sherouse of Margate, Fl., her son Hal Grier and wife Ashley  and three grandsons of Norman, OK., her sister Lorraine and niece Rosi Grier of Livingston, TN., sister Helen Grier of Piseco, N.Y.,  her brother Bill Grier and wife Jacqui  also of Piseco, N.Y., her niece Willa Perkins of Speculator, N.Y., cousin Pat Daniels of Los Angeles, CA., and many cousins in Long Island, N.Y. She will be dearly missed by her best friend Chris Sweeney of Delray Beach, Fl.

Family will hold a private service at a later date.

Joan Osborne

Joan Osborne, 74, of Johnstown, passed away suddenly and unexpectedly in her home on February 10, 2013.

She was born June 24, 1938 in Albany, NY to Charles and Virginia Bramer; and they raised her along with her younger brother in Schoharie, NY where she graduated from Schoharie Central School in 1956.

Joan met her husband Robert T. Osborne Jr. of Speculator, NY while she was attending college at SUNY Cortland and he was attending Cornell University in Ithaca, NY.

She spent her life making a warm loving home for her family. She enjoyed going to Church, singing, Yankee    baseball, cooking, listening to talk radio, morning coffee with her many friends, her time at the family beach in Speculator, and most of all spending time with her family, especially her grandchildren. She was a member of the former St. Patrick’s Church choir.

She is survived by her husband Robert T. Osborne Jr; her son, Robert T. Osborne III and his wife Jennifer and their children Charlie and Grace; and her daughter Cathy Osborne; all of Johnstown. She is also survived by her      brother C. Richard Bramer and wife Susan of Schoharie; beloved in-laws: Edward and Midge Perkins of Speculator; as well as many cousins, nieces and nephews.

The family will receive friends from  9 to 11 a.m. Thursday, February 14 at Holy Trinity Church, Glebe St; Johnstown, where a Mass of Christian Burial will follow at 11:00 a.m. with The Very Rev. Donald Czelusniak as celebrant.

Interment will take place in the spring at Ferndale Cemetery, Johnstown.

Joan suffered from Macular Degeneration. In lieu of flowers please make a contribution in Joan’s name to any organization that may assist with eye care, such as the Lions Club.

Jane K. Kelley

Jane K. Kelley, 77, of Lewiston, ME and formerly of Hoffmeister, NY, died on February 10, 2013 at the Marshwood Nursing Care Center in Lewiston, ME.

Jane was born on May 15, 1935 in Syracuse, a daughter of the late Frank and Marguerite (Hamlin) Slater.

She graduated from North Syracuse High School and was affiliated with the family business, Kelley Marine, both formerly of Syracuse and Morehouse. For several years Jane owned and operated Tamarack, a restaurant and bar business formerly located in the Town of Morehouse.

She served as Town Clerk in Morehouse for over ten years until her        retirement in 2004. Jane resided in Morehouse for over 35 years until moving to Maine in 2007.

She was a member of the Morehouse Volunteer Fire Company Auxiliary and as a certified E.M.T. served with the Company’s Ambulance. Jane was a       former member of a Lions Club in Syracuse and was of the Methodist faith.

Survivors include one daughter, Debra Merchant of North Syracuse; two sons, Seaborn Kelley, Jr. and his wife, Melissa, of Binghamton and John Kelley of Hoffmeister; and eight grandchildren. She also leaves her friend and companion of over 30 years, Stewart Farber of North Syracuse.

Calling hours will be held at the Autenrith Funeral Home, Newport on Thursday from 4 to 6 p.m. A graveside service will take place at Morehouse Cemetery in the spring.

Memorials may be made to Morehouse Volunteer Fire Company, P. O. Box 60, Hoffmeister, NY 13353.  Envelopes are available at the funeral home.
