Moriah, the 2012 Section VII Class C Champion, rallied in the fourth quarter of this year’s Section VII Class D semi-final game to beat the Indian Lake / Long Lake Lady Orange and advance to the championship game.

Classification is based on enrollment, and due to fewer students this year than last Moriah moved down to Class D for the 2012-2013 season.

Moriah got off to a strong start, leading 12-8 after the opening eight minutes of play. The Lady Orange weren’t ready to concede and outscored the Vikings 14-5 in the second quarter to take a 22-17 lead at the half.

The two teams played fairly evenly in the third quarter with IL/LL narrowly outscoring Moriah 5-4 to hold a 27-21 lead. In the final quarter, Moriah chipped away at its deficit and took a one-point lead with just over four minutes remaining in the game. IL/LL couldn’t regain the lead and suffered the 34-30 loss.

Abby Darling and Shannon Farrell paced the Orange offense with nine points each.

Indian Lake finished the season with a 17-3 record.
