LONG LAKE--Saturday, March 1, saw the continuation of a long winter and the annual Adult / Child Ice Fishing Derby sponsored by the Long Lake Fish and Game Club.

Twenty-two children entered the derby and 14 fish were brought to the weight-in station at the Long Lake Meal Site in Town Hall.

The first place winner is Hunter Walchusky with a 3.6 lb., 25.5 inch northern pike. Karlee Rockstrow came in second with a 3.07 lb., 24.5 inch northern pike. Dennis Stark took third place with a 2.89 lb., 23.75 inch pike.

Ben Fromm won first place in the perch category.

Door prizes were available thanks to Hoss's Country Corner and pizzas were donated by Adirondack Hotel. The weather was cold and the ice was thick. A good time was had by all, except the fish.
