Monday, April 14, 2014 - Updated: 5:39 PM

BLUE MT. LAKE -- The Adirondack Lakes Center for the Arts has been awarded a second North Country Regional Economic Development Council grant to continue its Adirondack Summer Playhouse.

This year, ALCA received $74,000 from the New York State Council on the Arts-administered RED-C grant. The funds will be used to maintain the Adirondack Summer Playhouse into its fifth season by supporting paid apprenticeships for local high school and college students, increased marketing and expanded production budgets.

The grant will also support the arts center's full-time staff.

The RED-C's goals are to help create and expand local economies while training individuals to work in the unique economies of the North Country.
