LONG LAKE -- Unless things change, Long Lake Central School District Superintendent Mary Dickerson's last day with the school will be June 30, 2015.

The Board of Education voted not to renew Dickerson's contract at this time by a split vote of 3-2 during a special meeting Friday, April 25. Members Michael Nerney, Christine Campeau and Paul Roalsvig voted against renewal. Voting in favor were BOE President Christine Blumberg and Robert Keough.

The vote means Dickerson can continue to serve as superintendent until her contract expires in June of 2015.

The matter was discussed in a 90-minute executive session. Slightly more than 20 members of the public showed up for the meeting, but about half had left by the time the board came out of executive session to announce its decision.

The move follows debate over Dickerson's qualifications and methods.

While the majority of the board voted against renewing her contract, members did vote unanimously to give Dickerson a 3 percent raise in salary. She is currently listed as having a salary of $98,362 plus benefits.

The board will next meet Tuesday, May 13, starting at 6 p.m. in the cafeteria, with the annual budget hearing at 7 p.m. The vote on the 2014/15 budget will be Tuesday, May 20.
