Long Lake students win in regional art show

LONG LAKE -- Long Lake art students received top awards at the North Country Juried Art Show April 11 at the Lake Placid Center for the Arts.

Over 12 North Country schools participated in this year's annual student show. Long Lake Central School's Emily Porter, Somnang Mor, Leah Foster, Jordan Hoag and Lillian Dechene had work accepted.

Emily Porter received the top honor of first place for her charcoal portrait. She also received an honorable mention for her second submission.

Lillian Dechene received second place in the sixth- through ninth-grade category for her charcoal self-portrait and an honorable mention for a second artwork. Jordan Hoag received third place in this same category for her Chinese Screen Watercolor.

The show goes until May 3. Gallery hours are Wednesday through Saturday from 1-5 p.m.
