Mock DWI is planned

BLUE MT. LAKE -- A Mock DWI and Distracted Driving event will be held Thursday, May 8, from 12-2 p.m.

The staged event will be on Durant Road here followed by a panel discussion at the Adirondack Museum. Agencies and volunteers from within Hamilton County have coordinated this effort to educate students at Indian Lake and Long Lake central schools about the danger of texting and drinking while driving.

The event is being held just days before prom.

This effort is county-wide with participation from the Hamilton County Sheriff's Department; New York State Police; the towns of Indian Lake and Long Lake; the Blue Mountain Lake, Indian Lake and Long Lake volunteer fire departments and their ambulance squads; a Hamilton County coroner; Hamilton County Community Services; Hamilton County Highway Department; Hamilton County District Attorney's Office; Hamilton County Mental Health Services; the Adirondack Museum; and Miller Funeral Home.
