LONG LAKE -- The Long Lake Central School District has gotten behind a proposed shared services project that would involve the school, town, fire district and county.

It voted last week to support an application for a state Local Government Efficiency Program grant for the project of up to $800,000. The Long Lake Town Board authorized the application in March.

This is the group’s second try for funding for the garage. It also applied last year.

The Hamilton County and Long Lake highway departments, Long Lake Fire District and the school district would share the garage. The intention is to house and maintain all their vehicles under one roof, sharing the costs and promoting more efficient government spending now and well into the future.
