Museum needs volunteers

Sunday, May 18, 2014 - Updated: 9:55 PM

Dear Editor,

I'm so excited about this summer's coming events. The Historical Society of Lake Pleasant and Speculator is joining in the action, once again, to help make history come alive in our local communities.

We'll be visiting local historical places such as the ruins of the Rhinelander Estate and Gilman Town. We will also be having another Civil War re-enactment. There will be a military surgeon talking and demonstrating his profession, cannon fire at night, a mock battle and much more.

For more information about our events visit our website at lakespec.wordpress.com, or visit the local chamber of commerce.

We will also have the Lake Pleasant Historical Museum open to the public Mondays, Wednesdays, Fridays, Saturdays and Sundays from Memorial Weekend to Labor Day Weekend. The hours will be 10 a.m. to 2 p.m.

There is one slight problem. Okay, maybe not so slight. We are in need of volunteers to man the desk at the museum. Your help would be greatly appreciated. If you are willing to volunteer, contact us by e-mail at lakespec@yahoo.com or by phone at (518) 548-8351. Also look for us on Facebook.

Thanks to those who are helping us preserve our past in the present for the future.

Aaron Weaver, president

Historical Society of Lake Pleasant & Speculator
