Change is good

Saturday, May 18, 2013 - Updated: 10:31 PM

Dear Editor,

As many of you know, the Indian Lake Theater, along with all small theaters across the country, is facing the challenge of going digital.

The movie industry, later this year, will no longer supply movies in a 35 mm format, but rather in a digital format. That mandates that all theaters make the expensive switch to digital equipment.

The Indian Lake Theater is actually much more than a place to just show movies, but is a community center that also offers live performances, a venue for community meetings and school programs, and even a space for private functions.

One of the ways the Indian Lake Theater is raising money for this digital conversion is by asking people to donate their spare change to the theater.

Coin drops will be located at local businesses for the days leading up to Saturday, May 25, when, from 12-4 p.m., we will be counting those coin drops and welcoming people to come to the theater (hopefully with their spare change) for free popcorn, music by Alex Smith, hot dogs and hamburgers and a prize for the heaviest donation made that day.

Mark your calendars for the afternoon of Saturday, May 25, and help us affirm that Change is Good!

Ann Carroll
