New York State Police Troop B held Memorial Day services at its Ray Brook headquarters Wednesday, May 21, when Major Richard Smith honored the troop's 13 fallen members. Father Shane Lynch of St. Bartholomew's Church in Old Forge gave the prayer and benediction. Troop B, founded in 1921 in Malone four years after the NYSP was formed, was known as the Black Horse Troop. Its headquarters was moved to Ray Brook in 1980. The troops coverage area extends from Gouverneur east to Ticonderoga and from Indian Lake north to the Canadian border.
