Long Lake Lions elect officers

LONG LAKE - Richard "Dick" Farr was re-elected president of the Long Lake Lions Club for 2013-14 Lions Year. King Lion Farr has been an active member for over 45 years.

The vice president is Mary Dickerson. The treasurer is Bill Kunzmann and the secretary is Carl Turner.

The Long Lake Lions Club was chartered Sept. 11,1957. Club members have worked on a variety of community service projects over the years.

Recent projects have been hosting vintage snowmobile races, the Long Lake Vintage 100 miler, the Easter Egg Hunt and Lions SEE vision screening.

Proceeds from past fund-raising events have gone to the Long Lake Community Food Pantry, the Long Lake Central School Scholarship Fund, the Long Lake Central School Electrathon Car Club, Lions Camp Badger and Lions SEE. The club currently serves barbecue lunch during summer community events.

The Long Lake Lions Club currently has about 20 members and meets the fourth Tuesday of each month at a local restaurant starting at 5:30 p.m.

Lions clubs are made up of men and women who identify needs within their own communities and work together to fill those needs.
