Woodward, Hoffman are top two students

WELLS - Brittany Woodward has been named valedictorian of the Wells Central School Class of 2013 while James Hoffman has been named salutatorian.

Brittany, daughter of Jennifer and David Woodward of Wells, is a member of National Honor Society, Student Council, SADD, Wells Athletic Association, Drama Club, Band and Chorus and has held various offices for clubs and the Class of 2013.

Brittany was selected twice to attend the Pen in Hand Writer's Conference. She has played all offered sports in all four years of high school.

In addition to school-related activities, Brittany has raised puppies for Guiding Eyes for the Blind since 2008. She has worked for the Town of Wells Summer Youth Program for the past four years.

Brittany attended Fulton Montgomery Community College full time during her senior year of high school. She plans to attend SUNY New Paltz in the fall, where she will major in Fine Art.


James Hoffman, son of Mr. and Mrs. Kenneth Hoffman of Wells, is a member of National Honor Society, Band, Chorus, Student Council, SADD and Technology Club.

James has played all offered sports throughout high school. He is currently vice president of the Student Council and has held various club and class officer positions throughout high school.

James is an active member of the Wells Volunteer Fire Company Junior Firefighter Program through the Explorer Scout Program. He also enjoys hunting and fishing and follows dirt modified racecars at Utica Rome Speedway and Fonda Speedway.

In the summer James is employed by Deerfoot Lodge, a Christian camp for boys in Speculator. He plans to attend Fulton Montgomery Community College in the fall where he will study Criminal Justice.
