Start of a park

Saturday, June 14, 2014 - Updated: 9:10 PM

Work started Monday, June 9, on converting the grassy lot at the intersection of state routes 8 and 30 and Elm Lake Road in Speculator into a memorial park honoring the late Dean Lane when Charlie Orr's Pro Care crew planted four trees on Jonathon Lane's property there. Town of Lake Pleasant and Village of Speculator crews brought in large rocks for the plaques and flowerbeds. The village filled the beds with soil and Speculator / Lake Pleasant Garden Club members planted perennials donated by Lane and others. Each of the four trees will also have a rock with a plaque saying who donated them.
