Vote for Matt

Saturday, June 14, 2014 - Updated: 8:22 PM

Dear Editor,

I'm writing this letter today because I'm concerned, and frankly, appalled. You would think that a candidate who touts the "positivity" of their campaign would strive to uphold those standards.

I am concerned for the North Country. I have lived here my whole life, and I am a very active member of the community. I love where I live! That being said, the thought of some outside, D.C. folks trying to buy a seat is unsettling, to say the least.

Ms. Stefanik moved here in December 2012 with one purpose: to run for this seat. Karl Rove and company are just going to airdrop candidates now. I guess representation has become like Amazon -- you get what you pay for and if you pay enough, it can be delivered to you!

I have known Matt Doheny for many, many years. Not only is he an excellent businessman, but he is a family man as well. He is an integral member of our community, something that can only truly be achieved if you really live here in New York's 21st District.

Matt is not in the back pocket of these no-name billionaires. Matt is running in our district, for our people and our community.

I am writing this letter because I am concerned, and because my family, friends and neighbors should be concerned too. Why did these mystery men spend all this money on attack ads against Matt? Why are they so focused on dissuading voters from a genuine candidate like Matt?

_If we are not careful, this will become the future of all political campaigns. The political elite will swoop in, set their sights on a candidate that is easily controlled and steal the district away from the people that really matter: the ones who actually live in the district.

Let's tell D.C. to stay out of the North Country! Vote for Matt June 24.

Nancy Kall
