Edwards resigns from board

Tuesday, June 25, 2013 - Updated: 12:08 PM

PISECO - Piseco Common School District Board of Trustees President William Edwards has resigned, effective July 1.

The move will leave two brand new trustees as the only members of the board. Christine Michienzi and Scott Pierce were both elected May 21.

The school district will hold a special meeting and vote Wednesday, Aug. 14, to elect a new member. It will start at 7 p.m. in the gymnasium.

The successful candidate will fill the remainder of Edwards' term on the board. He or she will be sworn in immediately after the vote and serve through June 30, 2014.

Nominating petitions may be obtained at the school between 8 a.m. and 4 p.m. Mondays through Fridays except holidays. Each must be signed by at least 25 voters of the school district to earn a place on the ballot. The petitions must be filed with District Clerk Victoria Orr no later than 5 p.m. July 15.

Absentee ballots are available.
