Emily Waters graduates from New Vision

SARANAC LAKE - Emily Waters of Long Lake was among 13 area high school students who graduated from the New Vision program during a packed ceremony held recently in the Redfield Board Room at Adirondack Medical Center here.

The New Vision program is an opportunity for high school students to gain a unique perspective into the many careers available in healthcare by working alongside Adirondack Health staff throughout several departments.

The other graduates are Lake Placid student Haley Brandes; Saranac Lake students Kati Buck, Megan Kilroy, Regan Kieffer, Alex Beaudoin, Craig Leahy, Erin Ryan, Jennifer McGuoirk, Kaelene Johnson, Brittany Burdt and Vashti McCormick; and Tupper Lake student Jasmine Keese.

The Saranac Lake Voluntary Health Association presented $1,000 scholarships to Craig Leahy, Regan Kieffer, Jasmine Keese, Haley Brandes, Kaelene Johnson, Erin Ryan, Jennifer McGuoirk, Vashti McCormick and Brittany Burdt.

Rachel Hannon, a child life specialist at SUNY Upstate Medical Center in Syracuse and 2005 graduate of the New Vision Program at Adirondack Health, provided the closing remarks and words of inspiration to the New Vision graduates.

New Vision is a division of the Adirondack Educational Center and the Board of Cooperative Educational Services Sole Supervisory District of Franklin, Essex and Hamilton Counties (BOCES). For more information contact Alison Riley-Clark at 897-2207.
