Art auction is July 9

Sunday, July 06, 2014 - Updated: 4:43 PM

INLET -- Inlet Public Library invites library supporters, art lovers, wildlife enthusiasts, and all folks who enjoy a good party to a special fundraiser at the library from 5-7 p.m. Wednesday, July 9.

Twenty framed artworks and prints from the collection of long-time library benefactor Scott Stuart will be the featured attraction in a night of festivities that will include a blind silent auction, raffle, wine, and hors d'oeuvres.

Penny Stuart, Scott's widow, has continued the couple's longstanding legacy of giving to Inlet Public Library by donating 20 works of limited edition fine art wildlife prints and photographs from their collection. One of the favorites, "Chickadee with Apples," will be raffled that evening, and the other 19 will be part of a blind silent auction.

Bidders will place their bids on their favorites into the appropriate numbered box. Each high bid will be determined at evening's end.

Scott Stuart's enthusiasm for art collecting is evident in the display; each is professionally and tastefully framed and comes with a certificate of authenticity. Works are currently on display and can be previewed at the library. Early bidding began at the library June 30.

Auction organizer and library board member Reggie Chambers says, "We are so grateful to the long-standing generosity of Scott and Penny. We want to honor Scott's legacy by coming together and supporting some of the things he was passionate about; the Inlet community, the library, wildlife art, and having a good time."

Admission is free. Attendees will receive a commemorative wine glass and free refills with a nominal donation to the library.

All proceeds from the evening will benefit Inlet Public Library. For more information call the library at (315) 357-6494.
