Wells Old Home Days Aug. 1-3

WELLS--Wells Old Home Days will kick off with the Children's Swim Races and the Wacky Race at the town beach Friday afternoon, Aug. 1. To register call Maggie Welch at 924-2128 or email her at wellsimprovementgroup@ymail.com.

The Old Home Days parade will begin at 1 p.m. Saturday, Aug. 2. This year's theme is "Journey Through The Decades."

Amusement rides, games, craft and food vendors, live entertainment and more will be in full swing both days on the grounds at Wells Community Hall on Main Street Friday from 4-9 p.m. and Saturday from 12-9 p.m.

Topping off the celebration, the Second Annual Ice Cream Social and Old Time Bluegrass Gospel Concert will be held at "The Revival" Hall Sunday, Aug. 3. Enjoy a sundae with homemade fudge or butterscotch sauce, brownie, whipped cream and cherry for a $3 donation.

The "Revival" Bluegrass Gospel band concert will begin at 4 p.m. with this year's members: Rudy Peters, bass vocals, mouth harp; Steve Page, guitar, banjo, vocals; Petie Barnowski, piano; Pam Broiles and Sheila Habla, vocals; and Len Broiles, fiddle and mandolin.

The "Revival Hall" is the former Wells Baptist Church on Main Street, an 1845 building on the National Historical Register currently being restored for cultural and community use. Call 924-2041 for info.

Please be advised that the annual Alicia Miller Run, normally scheduled for 9 a.m. Sunday, will not be held this year due to unforeseen difficulties.
