Public hearing slated on LL school project

LONG LAKE -- The Long Lake Central School District Board of Education will hold a public hearing in the school cafeteria Thursday, Aug. 14, starting at 6:30 p.m.

It will be on the board's proposal to spend up to $615,000 from the Capital Reserve Fund to replace windows; upgrade / replace the school's electrical system; and acquire equipment, machinery or apparatus for the building.

The fund currently holds $705,284. School district voters will cast ballots on the proposition Tuesday, Sept. 16, from 2-8 p.m.

In other business when the board met July 1:

Andrew Snide was approved as 2014/15 girls varsity basketball coach, boys varsity baseball coach and athletic coordinator.

Michele Gannon was named elementary tennis coach.

John Reynolds was approved as girls modified basketball coach.

Carey Pooler and Amy Gerhartz were approved as Arts in Education co-coordinators.

Duane Finch was named as audio-visual coordinator.

George Biffer was approved as musical / drama club advisor.

Noel Short was approved as Student Council advisor.

Nichole Meyette was approved as National Honor Society advisor.

Rebecca Pelton was approved as extended school year (summer school) speech instructor.

The board of education will next meet Thursday, Aug. 14, starting at 7 p.m. in the cafeteria.
