Fishing for trash

Joe Voorhees of Indian Lake, right, and his friend Nat Coombs from Virginia spent part of their summer vacation cleaning up enough chunks of Styrofoam from the shores of Indian Lake to fill this pickup truck. The debris, which breaks off floating docks, is generally pushed to the north end of the lake by prevailing winds and lodges in the coves and backwaters there, where it sometimes remains for years.
