Save money on home heating costs

Saturday, August 16, 2014 - Updated: 9:30 PM

INDIAN LAKE -- Visitors at the Saturday, Aug. 23, Indian Lake Community Farmers Market will have an opportunity to chat one-on-one with Jennifer Monroe, a local energy efficiency professional of Adirondack Efficiency in Adirondack.

Thanks to Monroe, several Indian Lake families are saving money on their heating bills after making their homes more energy efficient.

Monroe will also discuss state-sponsored incentives and financing programs available to help interested individuals with their energy efficiency projects.

Scheduling a home energy audit is the first step toward identifying where individuals can save money on their heating bills. In many instances, the audit is free for eligible individuals.

In addition, HEAP eligible residents may be eligible to receive free energy-saving home improvements. Adirondack Efficiency will be prepared to assist interested individuals in scheduling a home energy audit.

Due to the number of requests for home energy audits, home performance contractors are hiring qualified individuals to perform this service. Interested individuals with construction experience and who have a strong work ethic and are willing to travel throughout the North Country are invited to stop by the Adirondack Efficiency table for more information.

The Indian Lake Community Farmers Market runs from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. at the intersection of state routes 28 and 30 in the hamlet of Indian Lake. For more information contact Brenda Valentine at (518) 648-5636.
