The Wells seniors welcomed four new members during their monthly meeting Wednesday, Aug. 13.

We had an excellent speaker, Chris Curro from the Mohawk Harvest Food Co-op in Gloversville. He brought with him a sampling of some of the unique things sold there as well as fresh fruits and vegetables from local farmers.

The Wells seniors also received their trophy for third place for the float they entered in the Wells Old Home Days Parade. The cash prize of $75 was added to the treasury.

Sign up sheets for the Sept. 19 Balloon Festival in Queensbury became available.

It was also noted that there is still space available for the AARP Drivers Safety course that will be held Oct. 7 in the Methodist Church in Wells. This is open to anyone age 55 and over, not just Wells seniors. For more information contact Paula at 924-2104.

The Wells Senior Birthday Party will be held in Community Hall at 5 p.m. Wednesday, Aug. 27. Bring a covered dish. Besides possibly winning a birthday present and eating birthday cake, we will have a special surprise.

The next business meeting will start at 12:45 p.m. Wednesday, Sept. 10, at the meal site. If you are a Wells resident and have been thinking of joining us, please come by. Dues are $10 a year payable in September.
