LAKE PLEASANT -- This year's Summer Heat golf tournament raised $4,400 to help needy residents beat back the cold this coming winter.

The event benefits residents in the Piseco, Speculator, Lake Pleasant and Wells communities who need assistance with heating expenses. Last year's event helped 13 families.

The winning team was Christy and Will Wilt, Mike O'Rourke, and Ed Merando. Second place was a tie with John and Judy Kelsch, Austin Vogel and Jorden (surname not provided) and the team of Bob Gross, Tony Dispirato, Mark Crary, and Dan Wilt.

Organizers expressed a "huge thanks to our tournament sponsors: J & R Eldredge, Alicia C. Miller Real Estate, Speculator Spirits Inc., G.A Bove Fuels, The Inn at Speculator, Northway Golf Center, and Steet Toyota."
