Police Report - 08/29/2012

Monday, Aug. 20, 1:07pm: Charles N. Luxford, 25, Long Lake, was charged with fourth-degree criminal possession of a weapon (a firearm), a Class A misdemeanor. State Police made the arrest on Rt. 30 in the Town of Tupper Lake.

Friday, Aug. 24, 9:29pm: No one was injured in a two-car accident at the intersection of state routes 8 and 30 in the Village of Speculator between Cody W. Marcellus, 24, Piseco, and Matthew C. Eckelmann, 31, Brooklyn. State Police investigated.

Saturday, Aug. 25, about 1am: State Police are investigating a shooting that resulted in the death of a high school teacher.

Catherine B. Koestner, 30, of Utica was shot at the Forge Motel in the Village of Old Forge in Herkimer County. She was transported from the scene to St. Elizabeth Medical Center in Utica, where she died.

State Police say Koestner was in the company of a witness to the incident, her boyfriend, who is cooperating with the investigation. He had not been identified as of Monday night.

Koestner taught math at Proctor High School in Utica.
