RAQUETTE LAKE - Great Camp Sagamore here has a new executive director lined up, Garet Livermore.

Livermore has been vice president of education for 15 years at the New York State Historical Association and the Farmers' Museum in Cooperstown.

Executive Director Beverly Bridger, who has led Great Camp Sagamore since 1989, will retire at the end of the year.

"Garet Livermore will be an effective and creative ED. We are privileged to welcome him," Bridger says.

Great Camp Sagamore was built in 1897 and became the Vanderbilt family wilderness retreat from 1901-1954.

It is now under the auspices of a not-for-profit organization that preserves its 27 Nation Historic Landmark-designated buildings and is dedicated to their use for educational and interpretive purposes.

An active tourism partner in the Adirondacks, Great Camp Sagamore welcomes 10,000 visitors each year to its Raquette Lake site.
