INDIAN LAKE - The Indian Lake / Blue Mountain Lake Community is sponsoring the Adirondack Telecommunity Conference: Building Your Network Oct. 4.

This conference will feature telecommuter community members who live and work in the Adirondack Mountains. On tap: industry leaders discussing the present and future state of the Adirondack telecommunity, a presentation on "How to Vet: Ten Steps to Your Next Telecommunity Networking Opportunity" and finding work on the Adirondack Teleworks website. Register by Friday, Sept. 20.

Telecommuting allows working at home while satisfying career goals. This conference will provide an opportunity to collaborate with community members who have experienced working as telecommuters in the Adirondack environment.

The conference will be held at the Adirondack Museum in Blue Mountain Lake; it costs $25, with morning coffee and lunch provided.

9 a.m. Introductions and Opening Remarks. Entrepreneur Elmer Gates presents Adirondack Museum Director David Kahn; Tony Collins, president of Clarkson University; and the Adirondack Homestead Committee.

9:30 a.m. "How I Came to Work in the Adirondacks!" Creative Consultant Sherry Nemmers presents Eric Foster and Barbara Sullivan.

10:45 a.m. Adirondack Teleworks. Indian Lake Chamber of Commerce President Christine Pouch presents Bill Murphy, owner of Protech Audio Corporation and founder of Adirondack Teleworks.

11:30 a.m. Self-employed Barbara Sullivan presents "How to Vet... Ten Steps to Your Next Telecommunity Networking Opportunity."

12:30 p.m. Buffet catered by Susan Rohrey, owner of 'Flavor Catering' in Long Lake.

2-4 p.m. Panel Discussion. Indian Lake Councilperson Sally Stanton presents a panel of business representatives: Thomas DeRosa, CEO of Persone Staffing; Catherine Decuyke of Frontier Communications; and Sophia McKeown from NaviSite.

4:15 p.m. Closing Remarks by Arthur Gates.
