Deborah M. O’Brien

October 8, 2011

Deborah M. O’Brien, age 58, of Kickerville Road, died Saturday afternoon, October 8, 2011 at Glens Falls Hospital.

Born on May 17, 1953 in Tupper Lake, she was the    daughter of Robert and Christine (Hine) Wallace. She was a graduate of Long Lake Central School.

She married Patrick O’Brien on August 21, 1971 in Long Lake.

Debbie enjoyed crafts, knitting, crocheting, needlepoint and quilting. She was a wonderful mother to her daughters and caregiver to many.

She was a member of the Order of the Eastern Star, State of New York, Abenaque Chapter # 745, Long Lake.

Survivors include her loving husband of 40 years, Patrick O’Brien; three daughters, Paula O’Brien-Piraino and her husband James Piraino, Michelle Donnelly and her husband Tom, Kelly Brown and her husband Paul, all of Long Lake; three grandchildren, Jazmin Piraino, Chandler Seaman-O’Brien and Katarina Seaman-O’Brien; one brother, Gregg Wallace and his wife Nancy of Long Lake and their children, Chelsey and Jordan as well as all of the people who referred to her as Aunt Debbie.

At Debbie’s request, there are no calling hours scheduled.

Graveside services will be conducted at 1 p.m. Thursday at Long Lake Cemetery, Long Lake.

Following the service, friends and family are invited to gather for a reception at Donnelly’s Sunset Point.

In lieu of flowers, contributions in Debbie’s memory may be directed to the Debbie O’Brien Scholarship Fund at Long Lake Central School, P.O. Box 217, Long Lake, NY 12847.

Arrangements have been entrusted to Miller Funeral Home, 6357 State Route 30, Indian Lake.

Barbara E. Remias

Barbara E. Remias, 79 of Rt. 8 Lake Pleasant died Thursday October 6, 2011 at St. Mary’s Hospital in Amsterdam, NY following a short illness. She was born on July 21, 1932 in Frankfort, NY. The daughter of the late; Clinton and Marion Edick Smith. She attended North Syracuse Schools and on November 22, 1952 married John Remias Jr. in Little Falls, NY. He predeceased her on August 21, 1992.

She held many different jobs throughout her life including; Remington Rand Corp. of Ilion, NY, Cornell University Nutrition Aid for three years, Office of Economic Opportunity as a nutrition advocate for seven years, Census Crew Chief from 1980 to 2000, Hamilton County News for one year, Manager of the Art Department and graphic artist for North Country Advertising Agency in Northville for four years, Hamilton County Highway Department for nine years and the Hamilton County Treasurers office from 1990 to 1999.

Organizations that she was formerly active in were; the Wheelerville PTA, Caroga Lake Vol. Fire Department Auxiliary, Lake Pleasant Central School PTA, She was a member of the Advisory Board of Hamilton County Social Services, treasurer of Hamilton County Cooperative Extension Board of Directors, North Country Legal Services Board of Directors, Home Health Care Hamilton County Board of Directors and the Salvation Army Board of Directors in Hamilton County.

Survivors include her three daughters; Debra (John) Morrison of Wells, NY, Marion (Kenneth) Parslow of Piseco, NY and Marjorie Remias of Lake Pleasant, NY.  One brother; David (Keay) Smith of Vernon, NY. Three      grandchildren and several nieces and nephews also survive her. She was predeceased by her husband and her sister; Marjorie Benton of Cooperstown.

There will be no calling hours or funeral service. A private graveside service will be held at a later date in Airdville Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made to the Speculator Ambulance Corps, PO Box 282, Speculator, NY 12164 or Helping Hands Caregivers of Hamilton County, 145 Whitebirch Lane, Indian Lake, NY, 12842.  Arrangements are by the Northville Funeral Home. Betty H. Wilson

Betty H. Wilson, 93, of Fayetteville, peacefully passed away on Saturday.  

Betty was a summer resident of Higgins Bay, NY.  

She attended Ryder College.  

Betty was an avid reader and enjoyed music and knitting.  

Betty was predeceased by her husband Donald in 2010 and her daughter Karen in 1998.  

She is survived by her son and daughter-in-law David and Jayne Wilson of North Syracuse; granddaughter, Kimberly Wilson of Utica; grandson Jeffrey and his wife Nicole Wilson and great-grandson, Justin, all of California.

Services will be private.
