LAKE PLEASANT - The Hamilton County Industrial Development Agency has appointed William Osborne of Lake Pleasant as its interim executive director.

Osborne has been filling in on a part-time basis at the county Economic Development and Tourism Office while the Board of Supervisors decides what to do with the department -- either name a new director to replace Ann Melious, who resigned in July; or separate the two functions, perhaps farming out tourism duties to an outside contractor.

When the IDA Board of Directors met here Tuesday, Oct. 8, it also amended a microenterprise grant contract with David Scranton, Adirondack Aerial Photography, Inlet.

Scranton was awarded a microenterprise grant in July 2012 of $20,000 to purchase a Draganflyer X8 drone helicopter to take aerial photos for real estate and tourism customers, but was later denied the use of the money for a drone.

In April the board decided Scranton was eligible for a $7,000 microenterprise grant he could use for marketing and advertising his business.

The latest amendment, at Scranton's request, will allow him to use the $7,000 to upgrade his photography equipment.

The board also authorized advertising for requests for proposals to convert its records into the QuickBooks format, to make them easier and quicker for accounting and audits.
