PRUDENCE S. DECHENE

of Long Lake is enrolled at St. Lawrence University in Canton. She graduated Long Lake Central School in June.

Some 634 first-year students from 30 U.S. states, including a record 72 international students, have joined the St. Lawrence student body.

Each first-year student participates in SLU's innovative First-Year Program, developing the writing, speaking and research skills needed to make successful transitions from high school to college.

Founded in 1856, St. Lawrence University is a private, independent liberal arts institution of about 2,400 students.
