Dolly Parton sends books

Wednesday, October 23, 2013 - Updated: 4:46 PM

INDIAN LAKE - Fifty-five children from Hamilton County are now signed up for the Imagination Library and will receive books free of charge every month until their fifth birthday.

Initiated by Literacy Volunteers of Clinton County, Dolly Parton's Imagination Library is a 60-volume set of books that are mailed to each child that signs up and lives in Clinton, Essex, Franklin or Hamilton counties.

In Hamilton County, the county and Indian Lake school and library partnered to get so many kids enrolled that registration in this sparsely populated area now exceeds those registered in Franklin County. Any child under age 5 can sign up at Indian Lake Library just by stopping by.

Children not yet in pre-k and their parents are encouraged to come to the library Tuesdays at noon for stories and play. For more information call (518) 648-5444.
