Dec. 2, 1:44pm: Two people were injured in a one-vehicle accident on State Route 8 in the Town of Morehouse, west of the former Bearpath.

Sheriff Karl Abrams says Steven L. Balistreri, 30, West Allis, Wis., was driving a van east when it crested Morehouse Hill and hit ice while traveling downhill on a curve. The van sheared off a utility pole and overturned over the guide rails.

Balistreri complained of right leg and back pain, while his passenger suffered a broken clavicle. Both were transported by ambulance to a Utica hospital.

Deputy William Wilt is investigating.

Saturday, Dec. 3, 11:05am: Barry L. Hitchcock, 50, Indian Lake, was charged with three Class E felonies after being stopped by State Police on State Route 28 in the Town of Indian Lake for driving to the left of pavement markings.

Hitchcock faces one count each of aggravated unlicensed operation first degree, operating a motor vehicle with a blood alcohol concentration of more than .08 percent and driving while intoxicated - previous conviction within 10 years.

Bail was set at $500 cash.
