This past week provided the last games of the year for Indian Lake/Long Lake and Wells varsity teams.

GIRLS

SCHROON LAKE 38

WELLS 22

The Wells boys and girls teams traveled to Schroon Lake on Monday, December 17. The Lady Indians took the court first and trailed by four points after eight minutes of play. The host Wildcats edged Wells by three in the second period to take a 19-12 first half lead. The second half was controlled by Schroon Lake as they outscored Wells 19-10 on their way to the 38-22 victory.

Bobbi Jo Page put in an all-around game for the Lady Indians with seven points, six rebounds and five steals.

CROWN POINT 9

On Wednesday, December 19, Crown Point girls traveled to Long Lake to take on IL/LL.  The Lady Orange jumped out to a 16-3 lead in the first quarter and was never challenged in the lopsided 47-9 win. The strong IL/LL defense held Crown Point to single digit scoring in all four quarters.

The Orange offense was led by Meg Smith and Shannon Farrell with 19 and 15 points respectively. Jessica Bain contributed an all around game with seven points, five assists and three steals.

The Wells girls were also in action on December 19 traveling to North Creek to face Johnsburg. The game was close throughout all four quarters with the host Jaguars taking the 37-32 win.

Brittany Woodward led The Indians with 11 points, while Sam Zemken chipped in with eight points.

The undefeated Schroon Lake boys’ varsity team scored double figures each quarter in a 75-29 win over Wells. Caleb Hayes led the Wells offense with 10 points.

CROWN POINT 57

The IL/LL boys hosted Crown Point in Long Lake on Tuesday, December 18. The two teams played even in the first quarter followed by IL/LL outscoring The Panthers 13-5 in the second period to take a 23-15 halftime lead. Crown Point chipped away at the lead in the third quarter trailing by three heading into the final period. IL/LL was strong from the foul line down the stretch as they held off a Crown Point comeback to take the 60-57 win.

The IL/LL offense was led by Colin Farrell’s 17 points. Curtis Seaman recorded 16 points including four three pointers, while Henry Saniford contributed 13 points.  

IL/LL: Moore 3-2-8, Farrell 5-6-17, Sandiford 5-2-13, Seaman 5-2-16, Walters 0-0-0, Douglas 0-0-0, Morrissey 0-0-0, Giessen 3-0-6, King 0-0-0. Totals: 20-12-60.

MINERVA/NEWCOMB 41

The week of games concluded with the IL/LL boys’ varsity hosting Minerva-Newcomb in Long Lake on December 20. The Orange didn’t concede after trailing by 10 points in the first quarter as they went on to outscore The Mountaineers in each of the following quarters. A full court press and hot shooting by The Orange in the final period enabled them to collect the 51-41 Division III win.

Henry Saniford, Curtis Seaman and Matt Moore scored, 18, 16 and 12 points respectively to pace the IL/LL offense.

M/N: McCall 2-0-5, Bartomeau 1-1-3, Ruzbacki 4-0-8, Zhao 1-0-2, Chikukwa 4-0-8, Williams 5-3-13, Galusha 1-0-2. Totals: 18-4-41.

Schools are on holiday break until January 2. The boys’ teams will resume play on January 3 while the girls will get back in action on January 4.
